CUSTOM PRINTING

Got a Hero Forge design or a custom STL file just waiting to be summoned into the real world? We'll bring it to life in stunning detail. Whether you're a TTRPG player ready to meet your character face-to-face, or a painter or collector chasing the perfect print, we've got the tools and the resin to make it happen. We print at multiple scales, offer guidance on supports and setup, and work with you to ensure your model looks (and lasts) exactly how it should.

SIZE VS SCALE VS BASE

At Sigil Foundry, we don't just print miniatures, we summon them. And when you're calling something into the world, you'd best understand its true form. That means untangling three often-confused measurements: size, scale, and base. All are expressed in millimeters, which makes it easy for things to get a little… muddled.Size
Size is the physical height of the printed figure from table to it's topmost point... no illusions, no guesswork. Just pure dimensional accuracy. Pretty straightforward, but worth defining.
Scale
Scale is about proportions, often expressed in mm's, but can also be a ratio (more on that later). The scale is the measurement from the ground to the eyes of a 6' tall being standing upright.
• 28mm to the eyes in 28mm scale.
• 32mm to the eyes in 32mm scale.
• 75mm to the eyes in 75mm scale.
For decades, 28mm scale was the default but the craft evolved. 32mm scale emerged. More detail. Bolder poses. Better presence. Some push it to 34 or 35mm or even 40mm.While there is no unilateral standard, these days most TTRPG figures are designed at 32mm scale.Often you'll see the same model available in both 32mm and 75mm scale... one for gameplay, one for painting and admiring. The larger sculpt isn’t meant to hit the table. It’s meant to be admired — to showcase expression, anatomy, and story. These often include scenic bases, complex poses, and levels of detail that break game logic (and dungeon tiles).Base
In the TTRPG world, it's not the scale that defines a figure's presence, it's the base. The dimensions of the base determines the creature's footprint on the grid:
25mm = Medium (5' × 5')
50mm = Large (10' × 10')
75mm = Huge (15' × 15')
100mm = Gargantuan (20' × 20')
150mm =Colossal (30' x 30')
Generally, for sizes below medium, figures are still put on medium sized bases. So, a sprite (tiny), a goblin (small), or a knight (medium) may all stand on 25mm bases, even though they are different sizes. That makes them equals in spacing, not in stature. Grid logic obeys the base, not the body.Within each size classification, a given character can have a range in height, this isn't always exact, and doesn't take into account things like horizontal size, but as a general reference:
Medium: 5–8 ft (1.5–2.5 m)
Large: 9–16 ft (2.7–4.9 m)
Huge: 17 – 32 ft (5.2–9.7 m)
Gargantuan: 33 - 64 ft (10–19.5 m)
Colossal: 65+ (19.8m+)
These aren't rules, they're reference points. Some monsters sprawl. Others loom. Wings, tails, and anatomy break expectations.Display Figures, Busts, & Dioramas
Display-scale figures arentt made for battle. They're built for storytelling. Whether it’s a towering 75mm sculpt or a 1:8 bust, these pieces exist outside the grid, designed to showcase detail, expression, and narrative over playability.
Busts and large-scale figures are typically measured by ratio: 1:10, 1:8, 1:6, 1:4. The smaller the number, the more commanding the figure. These aren’t made for combat. They’re sculpted to be admired, studied, and displayed with intention.Dioramas follow similar logic. Though they can be measured by ratio, they're more often sized by the main character’s scale, typically 32mm, 75mm, 140mm, or more. The surrounding scene... terrain, creatures, weather, even time... is built to match that figure’s world. Dioramas aren’t limited by base or format. They can stretch in size and scale if the story calls for it. They’re moments. Stories suspended in time. Frozen. Framed. Alive.Here's some conversions to help connect the dots, or just look at if you think numbers are pretty:
28mm = 1:61
32mm = 1:53
75mm = 1:23
140mm = 1:12
170mm = 1:10
213mm = 1:8
283mm - 1:6
425mm = 1:4
The Sigil Standard
We don’t measure each piece one by one. That would drive even the steadiest hand mad. But we do use a 170cm eye-level reference as our scale baseline. There’s no true industry standard, but this gives us a consistent foundation when talking about size, proportion, and presence. Every product includes both scale and base size, so you’ll know exactly where it belongs: on the battlefield, the shelf... or whatever realm you’ve prepared for it.
Still unsure? Ask. That’s what we’re here for.

OUR RESIN

We needed more than a good resin, we needed the right resin. Something that could hold the finest detail without cracking under pressure. A blend that balanced sharp lines with strength, precision with resilience. Off-the-shelf formulas got close, but never close enough. So we stopped searching, and started building.What emerged was more than expected...

EMBERCLAY88™ isn't just a random mix of chemicals, it's a unique essence that merges matter and myth.Concocted in secrecy within the vaults of Sigil Foundry, this proprietary blend echoes with the intent of its creation. Some say it was drawn from the veins of forgotten gods. Others believe the ichor was always there, dormant in the raw compounds, waiting to be stirred awake. This crafted blend of spirit and will prints with startling precision, flexes without fracture, and resists failure as if it remembers what that means.Whatever its origin, the result is always the same... Forms rendered with purpose and a lingering awareness that it wanted to become something more.
